Today is my birthday!

Today, June 13, 2018, I turn 30 years old. That is quite a number, I guess I'm not a spring chicken anymore. I always figured that age is just a number, and I've never been more certain of it than I am now. I still feel like I'm in my early 20s. When my dad was 30, he already had 3 kids and I'm here considering if I should get myself a SNES Classic as a birthday present.

I'm not big on birthdays, I'm not too fond of all the attention it entails. I never really have a party or anything, but I usually use this opportunity to take a day off for myself. What I usually do is just spend a day at the beach. I tell all my friends, close and distant, where I'm going to be, and that they're invited to join me whenever it's comfortable for them. That way I get to spend a quiet day outside, some of the time alone and some with friends, without really having to organise anything.

This year a lot of things have been scheduled near my birthday, so I didn't feel like I could take a day off. Instead, I'm having a birthday dinner tonight with Ami - she's got a new mexican cookbook, we're going to try a few of it's recipes.

A few interesting facts:

  • June 13th is the 164th day of the year, there are 201 days left until this year ends.
  • Today, I've been alive for 30 years, or 360 months, or 1,565 weeks and 2 days, or 10,957 days, or 262,968 hours, or 15,778,080 minutes, or 946,684,800 seconds... or so.
  • June 13, 1983 - Pioneer 10 becomes the first man-made object to leave the central solar system when it passes beyond the orbit of Neptune. (I wasn't alive then, so it wasn't really my birthday in any way, but that's a cool fact so I let it slide).
  • According to Wikipedia, I share my birthday with Gabe Carimi, who used to play for the Bears, Bucs, and Falcons of the NFL, and with Cody Walker, Paul Walker's brother. I never heard of any of those people

Anyway, 30 years is the longest I've been alive consecutively without dying, and I intend on keeping this run going, so wish me luck.

Happy birthday to me!
